Shed DIY vs buying

    Hi,

I was planning to replace 6x6 shed in my garden to 6x12 or 8x12 pent shed to keep 4 bikes, garden tools and may be a small workbench.

To keep bikes secure I'll need a concrete slab, may be 6x2 size along one of the walls to secure chain anchors.

I was planning to buy a ready shed initially but was a bit shocked by 32x35mm framing... I was kind of expecting at least 2"x4" or even 4"x4" framing.

Now I have a dilemma - to search for a ready made shed of good quality (any ideas where?) or build one myself. I don't have much experience in DIY. Most recent thing I did - fixing engineered floors and bike was stand ) I have a few power tools but I don't have massive amount of time.
    Any ideas, suggestions?

If I'll go by DIY route - was planing to buy a shed plan like one of those:

    Thanks!

    PS: budget is around 1.5K.

I've never seen a shed with 2x4s but the shed I got 8x12 frame work has 3x2 all around and there is a gym in it and holds up very well. If you are short on time and tools I would suggest a ready made one maybe save 100 euro and put it together yourself maybe

Thanks for the advice. If you check plans above - there are material list which is available for free. And at least for 6x10 and 6x12 framing is 4x4.
The plans are from US but my friends from Russia who built sheds for their houses told me that 100x100mm framing is a pretty much standard there...
As far as I understand here it is considered as an overkill...
Btw, here is the materials link for 6x12 shed from plans above. Any thought on that?

4x4 is just a waste of timber.

This is what you can do with 2x4s.....

No need for 2x4s in a shed.

The guys who build sheds for a living know what they're doing.

Just had a 4x3 from these guys https://www.steeltechsheds.ie/.

As soon as it was up the Mrs says maybe I could use it as a pilates studio

What sort of price does that work out at? The shed now, not the Pilates classes

They start at about 1K. Ours (3x4) was just short of 3K.

Depending on size, windows, doors, shelving, insulation - you name it they'll do it.

    Yep

They're not for everyone, but the guys put it up in less than 3 hours. Its solid and weather proof with no maintenance.
