Foster Home Required

Hopefully this is the right forum for this post, but if not maybe someone could direct me elsewhere.

We have a lovely Norfolk Terrier who we got from the pound 8 years ago, when she was about a year old. We intend moving abroad over the next year or two and we will be taking her with us.

However, from early 2020 we plan on being away for the purpose of house hunting two or three times during the year, for stretches of 1 to 3 months at a time, and it wouldn’t be fair or practical to take her with us on these trips as we’ll be moving around quite a bit and staying in rental properties which may not be suitable for her.

Usually when we go away we leave her in the local kennels which she loves, but at €20 per night, that would be very expensive if we’re going to be away for longer than the normal holiday period.

We live in North Kildare so anywhere around the midlands or Dublin would be ideal if anyone is either looking to foster or knows someone who would be willing to do so for the periods mentioned above.

She is very friendly and playful with everyone and loves other dogs, although she’s not a big fan of cats. She also needs an enclosed garden to run around and must be kept on the lead at all times when out walking, as like most terriers she’s very inquisitive and will chase anything that moves. She’s in good health, although because she suffers occasionally from pancreatitis she’s on a special low fat diet, which of course would be supplied.

Apologies for the long post, but this is my first time enquiring about this, and if anyone has any other suggestions as to how we might go about having her cared for while we’re away, it would be much appreciated.

I think you need to talk to the Dog Kennel owners & come to an arrangement with them. Fostering is for homeless dogs often to get them out of a kill pound or a sad/ tragic family situation. Otherwise maybe see if family can help out.
