Hi, giving serious consideration to purchasing a BEV before 31st Dec 2019, would need to be new to avail of the ACA, we would be purchasing as a sole trader and we would need to do it this year as not an option for us next year.

Would love some advice as regards pricing and availability

Budget would be approximately 30k ish, we could play around with it abit, we would prefer a higher specced car.

We took a Niro for a test drive and thought it was pretty plasticky and at over 40k way over the budget and availability is poor anyway.

Test drove a leaf and my OH really likes the leaf, is pro pilot worth the extra?

Haven't driven an ioniq yet but css charging seems to be a plus there and hoping to have a test drive in a week or two

Going to ring a few garages about an egolf now after reading about the scrappage scheme they have going so that might bring it more into our budget range

We will keep one of our diesel cars, live in the country and most of our trips are short hop, once a month round trip of 200kms to the city and a 3 weekly trip of round trip 150kms, have 3 kids, I really like the look of an i3 but not really practical for us although one of the kids is a teen and doesn't go anywhere with us reallly

2or 3 times a year we do 5 hour trips but will have our 7 seater if required anyway

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I think you are too late, the €3,800 company owner SEAI grant is gone. You needed to have bought the car by some date last month (for deliver this year)

Not sure about the legalities, but I have heard plans from self-employed people buying the car privately now or next year (and getting the full €5,000 private buyer SEAI grant) and then selling the car to their company.

Thanks unkel. After reading most of the threads here and seai,it seems we would get the grant as would be buying as sole trader not as a company. For the dealer they would just see us a private buyer and we would just need a brand new Ev and receipt. I suppose what I really want to know is what the least possible price I could get for a brand new 192 unregisterd ev

I have the Leaf 40 and am really pleased with it. Home charging essential I think.

Wouldn’t plan on doing the 200km round trip without a quick charge.

I don’t have pro pilot- love the adaptive cruise control though. Works a treat

    Shout if other Leaf questions

Do all the leafs have adaptive cruise control

I think all except the base trim (which is now discontinued afaik) have it.
You can get pro pilot as an option which adds lkas.

Be aware that the leaf does not have CCS support and is therefore limited to 50kW chademo charging.

I have a leaf40 and Pro Pilot is a god send if you have a busy commute or doing long trips. I would go as far to say that its one of the few redeeming features that make the Leaf still relevant when compared to Kona/Niro etc

It’s a good solid car that has its quirks but pro pilot & zero G seats on a wet & dark commute makes for a relaxing drive and letting the car take the strain.

I do think that a price drop is on the cards in the New Year as scrappage is now available of €3.5k plus the inflated price in July did not help sales by the look of it.

They sold over 1000 of them so far this year so I dont think sales are too sluggish. Even the 192 sales were on a par with 182. It is just slightly beating Kona for the #1 selling EV spot.

That scrappage deal will help alright though. Likely to be a big bump in 201 sales

We would be interested on how you get on.
As a Ltd company I knew we missed the grant however we have a sole trader that would be interested in an e-Golf if the grant was available.
