phobia out of control

I have this fear of open windows. I also have a fear of spiders. Both irrational, of course,

It makes working life very hard. I work in an office with some great people, who sometimes want to get some air. When the window is opened, its like all rationale goes out the window (pardon the pun). I believe the open window will cause me discomfort (jumping muscles) and cause me to get sick.

I have tried to explain this to my colleagues who sit near me - could it be opened and closed. Not sitting there for hours with this breeze/draught on me.

Its causing me a lot of unpleasantness at work. I get contrary with my colleagues. They get contrary at me. I get the sweats from panicking. I might be laughed at for this - but all very real for me!

Anyone experience something similar? I have the option to move desk when this happens (I have explained to my managers), but for some reason, I wont do it. Like am sabotaging myself. The amount of anxiety am causing myself now, and it is out of control. Need help understanding.

I strongly recommend that you search for someone local to you who can provide cognitive behavioural therapy to help work through your phobia, for your own peace of mind and well being in public. Good luck with recovery!

How stressful for you. Please look into CBT or EFT tapping to help get yourself out of this, it's probably the only way forward. x
