    Hi all,
The kids have gotten into Scratch coding and are currently using my wife's laptop.
We're looking at getting them each a laptop each for Christmas but we don't know enough about what is required as in would a Chromebook suffice.

    Primarily looking at :
    browsing/ net surfing
    Scratch coding
    You tube videos etc.
Not really pushed on gaming as they can use the xbox but might be handy if light gaming was possible, Minecraft, fortnite etc.

Cheaper the better as have to buy three

    TIA

For coding and testing, any basic new laptop around 300-350 euro will do just fine, as long as they are not cheap netbooks/laptops that contain flash memory (if hard drive space is 32/64GB that is a red alarm). Something like this is fine

For light gaming like Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox etc you're looking around 400 upwards. Something like this (faster CPU, GPU, double the RAM, full HD screen) is good.

You could go refurb/2nd hand route and save a few euro but I like the warranty to be safe. Laptopsdirect.ie also do Refurb with warranty so there's that too
