Clayton Airport Hotel Dublin charge point

The Hotel has a 3.7kW charge point indicated on Ecars Charge map. Has anyone used it? Where is it in their underground car park? Is it normally available or blocked? When I was last there I saw a sign on a wall for an Ecars charge point, but no charge point. I presumed it was moved to another part of the car park. Or maybe it no longer exists. Anyone's experience of the charge point would be helpful.

I used it successfully in April. It's located in block A4 - a little hard to find as it's attached to the rear side of one of the support pillars (between two spaces) and isn't visible as you're driving by. Probably best to stop, get out, find it and figure out how best to access it.

The benefit of that location is that there are about three different parking spaces that can reach it with a normal Type 2 cable. One of the spaces is between the two rows of cars so if you position your own car with the charge port as close as possible to the unit, you should be able to connect it up.

The car park has its own email address, and the guy there as I recall was quite helpful.

Are there any spaces reserved for EVs?

No, at least there weren’t back in April. The guy in the car park said he’d try to reserve one and sure enough, there was one free. However that could have just been dumb luck - or I could have been unlucky and the space held for me get taken by an ICE. No space painted green, like in Dundrum centre for example.

Thank you Fricatus. Thats the guidance I need. Very helpful. Do you suggest I email the car park attendant or phone or is that pointless?

If I can charge the car at the carpark for the 12 hours it will be there next, it will save me having to stop for half and hour on the way home late at night.

Last time i used the Clayton (early 2018) the spot was iced. The guy in charge of the car park was called Patrick i think. He said to give them a call a few days in advance and they will try to reserve the spot, however it obviously depends on when the other person is coming back. Otherwise if you leave the keys and the space frees up while you are gone they will move the car & plug it in for you.

The other option if you get to the clayton a bit earlier is the fast charger at the petrol station opposite the hotel. However that’s was always in use when i got there.

I emailed, and that's what I'd recommend you do.

Worth asking if you could leave the keys and they plug it in... the worst they can do is say no.

I did that one day, when I arrived with plenty of time, but any other time I've tried using it, it has either been out of order, or there has been a queue of locals juicing up for free. Fees after 18 November should improve matters.

What I normally do with Dublin trips is try and charge a bit outside Dublin because local hoggers are usually less of a problem. Depending on which way you're coming, Ionity at Kill or City North might be handy for you once they open (CCS only of course)
