Vodafone Siro speeds

I just got Vodafone siro installed this week and am not finding it good .
I previously had virgin broadband and found it much faster . On virgin for example on my mobile phone on WiFi on a speed test I was getting 240 Download and 22 upload .

In the same router position on Vodafone I got 146 download and 212 upload

When I connect my laptop directly with a cable to the Vodafone router I am getting no where near 240 let alone a 1000.

Also the virgin router signal seems stronger through out the house

Does the 14 day cooling off period start from the day of instalation as opposed to the date of placing the order .

Am considering switching back to virgin

The router supplied by vodafone is garbage, if you do no use it for phone or their tv replace it with a third party device. As for the wired performance that's limited to the hardware of your laptop.

Thanks for the reply . Will try a different laptop as a test

I don't use it for phone or TV .

Is there a 3rd party gigabit WiFi router you would reccomnend I replace it with

I have a fritzbox 7530 supplied by digweb as my base router. Fritzbox is probably best in class and a second netgear nighthawk R7000 that I use for wifi and TV in a different part of the house, the netgear is linked to the fritbox via gig ethernet and has been good so far.

    Bit of a thread revival.

Recently got VF SIRO FTTH and speeds are very poor (Gigabox)

I have a D-Link DIR-842 Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wave 2 Wi-Fi Router with 4-Port Gigabit Ethernet router and am trying to connect my D-Link directly to the OTN.

Can anyone advise of the correct setup for this?

I have tried using [DLINK SN]@vfieftth.ie and pw broadband or vodafone but no joy

    Any help appreciated.

Why would you ever use DLINK SN as a user name?
I've no SIRO , but surely you have to use Gigabox SN if at all.
Couldn't you check user and pass for broadband settings at Gigabox UI?

Having the DLINK connected directly to the OTN.

Had used the Gigabox serial number@vfieftth.ie with password or 'broadband' and 'vodafone' neither worked.

Then thought why would I use the Gigabox serial number when the DLINK is connected directly to the OTN so tried the DLINK serial number@vfieftth.ie (with either password) and this did not work (the DLINK was not connected to the Gigabox it was connected directly to the OTN)

I've no SIRO service , but what you saying makes very little sense.
Username and Password are used for PPPoE authentication, so DPLINK SN definitely out of a question.

ps. OpenEir using VLAN 10 tag for FTTH , not sure about SIRO
    I

    Yes SIRO using VLAN10 also.

I was simply testing if using the DLINK sn would make any difference, just a test noting else.

Why wouldn't you retrieve username and pass from Gigabox? Is it hidden?

Obviously it's not hidden, it's on the label on the base of the Gigabox which is the first config I used, which didn't work.

Not sure if you are genuinely trying to be helpful or just being smart?

    A bit of both , I guess :)
Could you retrieve it from UI ( User Interface) though? Can you see it there or is it hidden?

If just being smart it's not appreciated.

the SN of the router is visible in the UI

I was asking you if you could see User name and password for the PPPoE settings at UI of Gigabox , just in case it is different to SN of the router.
    It is
vodafone@vodafone.ie for Vodafone OpenEir FTTH for instance.
