    Hi Folks,

Can you please tell me do I enter the full amount paid for HRI on an attic renovation?

Also how do I handle VHI subs - my subs for 2018 were approx €4,500

    Thanks

    Niall

The amount for hte F11 is the tax credit value for the year i.e. the 13.5% value applicable to that year. Once the work was properly registered via ROS you should be able to see that in MyAccount or on a prepopulated F11 it would be shown immediately above the HRI entry box.

If you are paying the VHI yourself there is no entry required on the F11 as you are getting the 20% tax credit at source via TRS.
If it is an employer assisted payment then you need the relevant data for each person and enter in the "Medical Insurance paid by employer" section.

Was the HRI registered online properly: is it not in the repopulated form or in the HRI tab?
Re the VHI, I assume the max 200 per adult 100 per nipper was granted at source
    https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/money_and_tax/tax/income_tax_credits_and_reliefs/taxation_and_medical_expenses.html

The HRI is listed in my claims as already claimed on 15.01.2019 - work was done in 2018. I pay income tax though so it's not like I got a refund on it.

The HRI box in form11 is empty

I pay approx €4,500 BIK on my VHI subs so I'm not eligible for TRS - as such, do you know what I can claim from this?

    Thanks..

Where Er pays full amount You're BIKd on that and are entitled to the maximum of €200/€100 adult/child tax credit.

Policies paid by employers (as a benefit-in-kind)
Your employer may choose to pay medical insurance to an approved insurer for you or your family as a benefit-in-kind. If they do, you will:

be taxed on the gross value of the policy or policies
need to claim medical insurance claim tax relief from Revenue as it was not given at source.

So you complete the "medical insurance paid by employer" section of the F11

Is there somewhere on the Form11 I can claim that credit?

I've entered in the amount paid by employer but can't see anywhere to avail of the credit?

Each person covered adult or child must be entered by name, amount of premium amount if any you contribute and number of months active in the year. The ROS form allows you to add persons. On the Paper F11 it's section 526.

You can't just enter the total it won't know how to apply or restrict the max credit. It will calculate the tax credit due on ROS you don't need to.

Entered all those details for the four covered, no of months and amount by employer. I didn't see a calculated provision - will double check. Thx

It will be in the computation along where other tax credits are listed, married PAYE credit etc.
