Some great ones like the fast show hale and pace smith and jones. Seems to have really dried up. In saying that the standard in comedy is very poor at present

I think it's a budget thing oddly. A static format like a panel show is very cheap (quick) once you've signed the talent whereas sketches need a lot of writing work (time) and staging (more time), the Fast Show did plenty of location work for example. Despite budgets being ever greater for drama they remain low for comedy on UK telly.

As a related aside I saw some of Marty Feldman's sketch work on BBC Four a few years back and they did one gag that wouldn't have a chance of being filmed now (the passing trains moment) - amazed they found the time to set it up back then to be honest. It's part of a sketch five minutes long which must have taken two or three days to film.

A lot of sketch-style content has gone online, actually.
For example, check out Viva La Dirt League on Youtube/Facebook/Insta. Very funny guys.

Think the only tv sketch show type I watch now is Robot Chicken, but the quality of that as dropped big time.

I like Ryan George's stuff on youtube. Both his own channel and his Pitch Meetings on the Screenrant channel.

A sample for a little known tv series (Spoilers for the series but not the movie)

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson on Netflix is great.. like most sketch shows, hit and miss, but more of the former IMO!
