    Hi,

Had been using a borrowed Tacx Vortex smart, and finally bit the bullet and purchased a Bushido.

Have been unable to get the Tacx calibration app to work.

Well, the app works fine but no matter what I do it always reports that the wheel is too loose on the roller.

I have ensured the rear tyre is inflated, the tightening nut on the roller is at its maximum but it makes no difference.

ALso updated the firmware on the trainer.

Anybody experience anything similar? If so how did you resolve it?

    Thanks

I have had the Bushido for 2 years never had a problem.

what version of the app are you using ?

    IOS or android?

I think there is a new model Bushido since i purchased are you on that ?

When you say its always too loose
    1. you lift the lever on the Bushido to tighten the brake to the wheel
    2. pedal a bit to power it up and link to the app
    3. begin calibration
    4. pedal till you hit the speed (30 or 40 KPH i think?)
    5. stop pedaling allowing the brake to stop the wheel fully
    6. start pedaling again to keep up the power
    7. get you results (for you its too loose)
    8. lower the lever away from the tyre
    9. turn the dial on the lever to tighten (Anti clock wise ? )
    10. Re lift the lever and re calibrate

Sorry for the question marks above I'm in work so cant remember the details.

So when you complete step 10 no matter how many times you do it you always get the result its too loose?

So for you the line is way to the left in the below image does it move at all ?

Thanks for the detailed reply !

I only purchased it new a few weeks back so I presume it's the newer model.

Yes I follow all those steps repeatedly and the line is way to the left in the calibration app.

It's not all the way over to the left but more a good deal closer to the left edge than the start of the "sweet spot "

I have tightened the dial (anti clockwise) as far as it can go.

Inflating the tyre a bit did help all slightly but not enough.

Attached is a photo of the wheel on the unit.

    Thanks for the help !

That photo looks fine to me, there are two possible issues here the app or the bushido

I have used the app on both a Samsung mobile and a Galaxy tab but not the IOS version.

Have you tried reinstalling app, using other version of app ios/android
You say that you updated the firmware, is that through the app??
Are you connecting via bluetooth to the trainer

If you updated via the app, this indicates that the app is communicating successfully with the trainer

Its also possible to calibrate via PC. I'm pretty sure the tacx software is free but if not prior to switching to Trainerroad i was using a free trainer software called maximum trainer you can calibrate with that (i connected from pc to trainer using a usb ANT extender cable it was very good but didn't have a specific profile for the bushido but the calibration should still work.)

If none of that works then it looks like the trainer is the issue.
Id say unless some one here has experienced this you need to get on to Support.

    Hope it helps

    Thanks for the reply.

I am using the Tacx android app on my samsung A5.

Yes I updated the trainer firmware via the android app.

I am going to try using calibration using PC software to see how I get on.

I have already been on to Tacx support and they simply said 'thats weird' or something similar to that effect!.

    Thanks again

So I installed the Tacx desktop app and unhelpfully it does not have a calibraton feature.

I tried trainer road however and it detected the trainer and I went through the calibration process no problem. It didn't report any issues.

i presume this means I can go ahead and use trainer road now, and probably zwift also?

I.e. I am assuming there is just an issue with the Tacx app.

    Cheers!
