Hi, i will be commuting 132km per working day, 14 days per month works out 1876km per month commuting. Route M1 -> M50.

At the moment I am driving 1.2 petrol ford fiesta 08 - I tried driving & my estimation is that I spent between 10-20euro roughly per day. I am thinking of getting a bigger engine but should I get petrol or diesel for 3k budget. I prefer a petrol engine over diesel because maintenance are a bit expensive. Other people think I should go with diesel.

Might be cheapest all over , to just keep what you have !

There would be big savings with electric. If the 6,000 euro or thereabouts leafs could do your distance ...

You need to figure out if its worth changing. At 3k you may might be only going up a year or 2. I bought a 09 Skoda Octavia tdi earlier this year for a similiar price and it's giving me 17-18 kms per litre of diesel.
A lot would depend if the switch to diesel will offset the cost of changing the car

If your only changing because of fuel economy then you need to consider other factors. You run the risk of the unknown quantity of how reliable/unreliable the newer car could potentially be. A newer car will use fuel too as well as more to buy.
