When were/will the RPZs be officially renewed?

This might seem like an odd question, but I never saw an official piece of news stating that the RPZs, which were due to expire in Dec 2019, were or will be renewed. See for example https://www.newstalk.com/news/rent-pressure-zones-extended-843950

Has anyone any info on when this officially happened/will happen? I mean, theoretically the government might decide not to renew, but we all know that's not going to happen, right?

Cant see that happening.

No politician wants to change the status quo and be responsible for lots of tenants suddenly being served with rent increases back up to market value.

A legal challenge is too expensive for a small LL, and REITs who do have the deep pockets for a challenge actually benefit from RPZ's as it pushes up the rent on new accommodation they bring to market.

Expect further extensions well beyond 2021.

They are thinking of doing more damage and implementing a rent freeze. Then the market will get worse.
