Hi, just wondering has anyone used the Aviva driving school? And how much were you quoted for insurance once you'd finished and passed the driving test. And do you think it was worth it

    Hi,

My daughter just went through the whole Aviva driving school programme i.e. the Level 1, 2 and 3.

Before she did it we were getting quotes from Aviva direct of about €3400 for fully comp insurance for a 2010 1.6 Ford Focus.

After completing the 3 levels of the driving school she passed her driving test and passed the Aviva assessment at the end. We then got quotes of €2023 for fully comp and €1912 for third party.

We thought the quotes would be better, we had read other posts here on boards from people that got better quotes.

    Thanks

I did all three levels of the Aviva programme and my insurance was only around 1000 for third party (which was an amazing price compared to everywhere else). Gone up to 1200 this year

Any other recent experiences with Aviva instructors around south Dublin? A family member is looking at using them, because it seems to be the only way to get insurance for young learner driver. I'm just wondering if the instructors are any good?

My daughter did all three levels about two years ago, passed the test first time and passed the Aviva advanced test also. Insurance from Aviva was not great but she went with Itsforwomen with the tracker in the car and got it for about €1000. The second year it has gone down to less than €700.

Many people getting their first car probably won't want the box but I think it is good for teaching them to drive safely starting out and you can't argue with the premium.

The cost of the lessons and insurance is about the same as the lessons on their with an independent instructor. If they do the second package the full cost of lessons, insurance, test etc is about €1000.

Not in Dublin so can't recommend any instructors but as with all driving instructors you will have some that suit and some that don't.

Thanks, just keen to get any views on the instructors themselves - Google reviews are mixed at best
