Radon barrier over rising walls

    Hi all, new to boards.ie.

I recently started a self build. The rising walls were all built up to finished floor level, this will leave the radon barrier installation very tricky. Should I take out a course of blocks or is there an easier way? The radon barrier is going over the hardcore full and under the subfloor concrete. The block layer also left the radon vents too high and I will have to bore these out lower down..disaster! Any help appreciated.

You need a continuous insulation layer, suggest you take down the block and install quinlites at least, check the strength with your engineer, Have you looked at the part L generic details? Note the Thermal bridge requirements? check you are in compliance with building regs ? Also have you Radon sumps and pipes installed? stove air-intake?

I’m waiting for hardcore fill to be delivered at the minute. I’ll get the waste pipes etc and radon sump in a also. All internal blocks are at ffl which leaves radon barrier installation difficult. The internal walls should have been left down. These blocks are on the flat as they will carry beams.

Talk to who you have engaged to certify the build.
You need to stop now and rectify.
