My friend in college eats raw chicken and pork maybe once a week. I was telling him it's dangerous and it could cause salmonella/tapeworms but he says he's been doing it for a month and there've been no problems besides a running stomach one time.

I've read that the risks aren't that high and in developed countries, standards are implemented to make sure salmonella isn't in most chickens. Also raw pork is safe as the feed of pigs isn't as dirty as it was 30-40yrs ago.

The Japanese eat raw chicken (chicken sashami) and don't seem to die so what's the harm eating it here?
