Tax credit for third level education

    Hi All

Quick question on the above . I am reading the guide on revenue but I'm still a bit confused

It seems you can claim relief for third level education.

However, there is something called a "disregard amount" which I don't follow.

My scenario is my spouse paid €1,100 in tuition fees in 2018 for a full time course in college.

What exactly will we be able to claim back . From my reading , I think revenue is saying the first €3000 is a "disregard amount "in 2018.

Does this mean, because the amount we paid is less than €3000 , we can't claim for anything.

Is it like some kind of excess so people can only claim where the fee goes over €3000.

This is what I'm trying to understand.

    Thanks in advance

It's literally answered in example 1 in the link you provided yourself...

You have answered it yourself, spend amount too small

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.

Thanks guys , I just wasn't sure from the wording

Example 1 was talking about free fees with a student contribution.

In my case , spouse paid €1,100 in tuition fees ( so I take it that is the same as a student contribution)
