Got a recall for our second car, the old yaris only used as a run around. Not worth much.
Was going to sell it before I got the letter but obviously wouldn't sell it to someone without the problem being fixed.
Just don't have a lot of time to bring it in and all that jazz. Would toyota scrap it and give me the cars worth I'm thinking the job would cost more than the car is worth.
Any thoughts let me know cheers

They will give you nothing for it. The recall is likely for the airbag recall, will only take an hour or so to put right.

What is the issue and year of car?

Toyota will give you a scrapage deal on it alright but probably only if you buy a brand new car off them in January, other than that it's worth less to them than it is you.

The problems been there for the last 15 years I’d guess. No harm in selling it as is, the new owner can do the recall work.

They say that airbag problem can result in metal shards being propelled into the car in the event of airbag deployment.

They are. This has been known since 2014 though.
Takata, the company that made the airbags went bankrupt as a result a few years ago, Toyota are paying for this themselves, and there is no apparent urgency.

Not to say there isn’t a fault (a good few Americans deaths have been attributed to this fault - it affects other car brands too) but there have been countless crashes in Yaris over the years with no reported metal shards.

    Thanks for the info.
If it was me I'd make the time and get it fixed.
