Thatched House Planning

Hi All, So I have just got Mortgage Approval In Principal from the bank to restore a thatched (Listed) house and add a new extension. But one of the conditions is that I need Building Insurance During the Course of Construction. Getting this insurance is proving next to impossible due to part of the construction being thatched. So has anyone come across this before and if so what company provided this type of insurance.
    Thanks.. D.

Try via your bank offering the mortgage

I had to get special insurance for different reasons to you, and my broker ended up getting it through Lloyds. It cost a fortune, but it was a different situation, except that I needed cover for random professional/trades people on site. What I am saying is that you may have to get a broker to approach Lloyds for you.

Thanks, I have asked the bank. Waiting for them to get back to me. And for Lloyds they pulled out of the market for thatched houses a few years back. I found out this week 🙈
