I have a pretty old PC currently so all new games are off the table.

What great games would you recommend for my system?

    All recommendations would be appreciated.:o

Spec: Core i3 3.3 Ghz, 8 gb ram, intel graphics. :(

    What's the full specs?

How many cores on that i3? If it's at 3.3 GHz it may be okay. 8GB isn't amazing, but it's not terrible either.

That Intel graphics card though, that'll be a limiting factor.

It says i3-3220. In the device manager there are 4 drivers.

I'm far from a tech wizard so I'm not totally sure.

That's two cores with hyperthreading to act like 4.

I'm not sure what Intel Graphics card you're rocking, possibly 2500, but it'll limit you a bit. I'm not a tech wizard either, so absolutely open to correction here:

Off the top of my head:
Civ 4,5, maybe Civ 6. Crusader Kings 2.
    Skyrim? Fallout 3/New Vegas?
    Portal/Portal 2/Halflife/Halflife 2/Left 4 Dead?
    Walking Dead games, I think.
    Diablo 3 / Torchlight 2 / Grim Dawn, maybe.
    Age of Empires 2.
Rimworld, though play on smaller maps perhaps.
    Terraria.
    Darkest Dungeon.
Mass Effect series, though not 100% on the last one.
    Deus Ex.
    Borderlands, possibly BL2.
    Football Manager series.
    Rise of Nations.
    Dawn of War series.
    Divinity Original Sin 1.
    Slay the Spire.

    Commandos 2: Men of Courage
    Commandos 3: Destination Berlin
    Grim fandango
    Max Payne

What type of games do you enjoy?

I like 1st/3rd person shooter games and RPGs.

There have been some great suggestions (ignoring some snide PC snobbery digs).

Is steam the best place to download games?

    Thank you all.

Yeah its by far the most popular digital outlet for PC games. It's had almost a monopoly until recently but it hasn't been bad for the consumer. They have great deals sometimes.

If you had to suggest one of the games listed, which would you go for?
I'm currently leaning towards Max Payne but I'm spoilt for choice now. :o

Loads of free games on steam. Check it out and see what your system can handle.

Thanks for your suggestion. Just had a look and the free games look like shoite.

Unless you have a specific recommendation, I don't want to wade through that marsh tbh.

You may want to check the Free To Play games, as opposed to just being free.

A lot of them tend to be relatively easy going on the machine specs compared the latest AAA FPS.

Command and Conquer collection can be got for peanuts these days.

Worth a look if you fancy trying a few strategy games. Not all them are worth playing but as already suggested Red Alert 2 is good. Tiberium Sun was always a favourite of mine too.

They would be on Origin not Steam

Integrated graphics on a 3220 are seriously poor, a good few of the games mentioned will definitely not run. What sort of a PC is it? A 3220 is still an OKish processor for a lot of games, you could throw in a €50 graphics card and play a lot of stuff. What sort of games do you like?

Just saw there you said FPS and RPG games. To be honest you would really need a graphics card. Even games from 2007-2008 would run terribly in most cases, pretty much unplayable. It would be OK for playing some of the classics like Call of Duty 2, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Half Life 2 and that kind of thing - games from around 2005 era in most cases should be fine.

What about Rome: Total War and Medieval 2: Total War? Those should run ok.

Try Trails in the Sky FC as long as you don't mind slow paced games. I ran it on an intel atom pc before.

If you're interesting in wandering off the beaten path, the libre game wiki is a world to explore and a huge majority of the games run on very low end systems + everything's gratis. https://libregamewiki.org/Main_Page

Anything at this link will bring a huge amount of games into your reach for minimal expense.

With Intel graphics you're realistically limited to Half Life 2 (2004) level of performance. Thankfully that is still readily available and brilliant but after that you will be running out of good options quickly.
