Kia Carens - grinding noise

    Hi

Looking for some thoughts, to open - my knowledge of cars is very limited.

Bought second hand Kia Carens (171) a few montha back from a Kia garage. Shortly after purchasing i found that there is a grinding noise (best i can describe it) everytime i hit about 100kph.

The noise is recurring i.e. roughly one second on, one second off. There is a bit of a vibration/feel in the footwell and steering wheel when it happens also. The noise isnt there at all under c. 100kph. Additionally, driving straight it is quite mild, if i turn the steering wheel left (even slightly) the noise stops and if I turn if right it gets noticable worse.

Dropped into garage and they said they could hear nothing, I went out on a drive with them and pointed it out - it is very obvious. They never seemed confident that they found the problem, talk off some issue with dampeners, then the flywheel.

The noise did settle a little, but never went fully away after whatever work they did and is back now again as bad as ever if not worse.

Anyone any thoughts on what it could be?

Tyres, rims would be my first on the list to check.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what I am looking for. Nothing looks unusual or out of place.

Might bring it to an independent garage to get it checked. Just didnt want to fork out given it is such a recent purchase.

    What about Kia's warranty?

If you can work out roughly where it is coming from say left or right back or front then change the tyres over (checking you follow and direction notice on the side of the tyre) and see of the noise moves with it.

My wife had something similar on her car and it took her a long time before she persuaded me there was a problem. Tyres had plenty of mileage left in them but we replaced them all and the vibration and noise went.

It was back with the kia garage twice at this stage over the course of about 4 weeks and it hasnt been resolved. They can't seem to identify the issue. Thinking perhaps someone else would be able to but likely should just be pushing Kia harder on this

Maybe try a different Kia dealer?

If its the tyres or rims I doubt the dealer will be much bothered except to sell you new ones.

Whats the mileage, the state of the tyres (tread depth) and state of the rims?
