TV signal problem

Have an old tv with saorview box not used often. Starting giving problems with the picture breaking up with coloured lines going through it. Tried another telly and the same problem which made me think the problem is not the tvs but the signal. The aerial cable going into the saorview box seemed very loose and is very long so I said I would get and new cable. Did so and plugged in it but now the tv screen is completely blue with some sound still coming through. Any ideas on what the problem before I go replacing tv or saorview box that might not be the problem.

Try a SCART cable if its a HDMI cable you are using??
