Hi. I hope to build a new house in my back garden. Assuming I pay the connection charges as stated by Irish Water can I connect into the water supply and sewage pipes that service my current house rather than having to connect to the mains out on the street?

If you are building an extension, you may be able to connect to the existing connection on your premise. However, if you are building a new home which requires planning permission, you will have to apply for a new connection to the mains.

I recommend that you apply for a Pre-Connection Enquiry and our engineers will be able to look into this directly for you.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

Thank you Daniel. I have completed the form and will send it shortly. I've no problem paying for the connection, it's just a pity to have to dig up a road when there is a relatively new 4" sewage pipe coming from the existing house which would be about 20m from the new house! (Similar for water supply). I appreciate the reply nonetheless.

    Hi again

Your website says a site location map with a scale of 1:2500 has to be sent with the form whereas the form itself says the scale should be 1:1000. Is either acceptable?

A location map with the site boundary outlined in red is required to a scale of 1:2500 and a site layout map to a scale of 1:500 or 1:1000 showing layout of proposed development, water network and wastewater network layouts, additional water/wastewater infrastructure if proposed, connection points and invert levels of connecting asset to Irish Water infrastructure is required.

If the map sent is not clear due to the size, our New Connections Team will reach out to you and request an alternative map.

I hope that this answers your query.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
