Visiting Paris - Beware

    Hey,

I did a road trip from Germany to Paris on the Weekend.

Just thought I would give anyone a heads up regarding visiting Paris.

First good point is that you can park for free while charging.

However in Paris the majority of chargers are Type 3c and not Type 2.
There are CCS and CHAdeMO rapid chargers (sort of, many of them are 20KW only) but they are run by a company called Belib who pretty much have a monopoly)

You need a Belib card to use these, it's not possible by App and even though they say they have arrangements with other providers none of them work at present.

Any of the other CCS/CHAdeMO Chargers (e.g. izivia) I found from other companies were out of service or were ICE'd.

Your best bet is when visit to stop at a small City/Town (I stopped in Compiegne for the night) before going to Paris and charge up there first. There's a company called Mouv and all of their chargers are free until the end of the year, you just download their app and start the charge (don't forget the displayed pin as you won't be able to stop the session otherwise and will have to go ringing them)

I would definitely not recommend rolling into Paris with less than 100km range left as you could easily get stuck (unless you have a Type-2 or Wall socket Guaranteed at your destination)

Once you get out of Paris there is the Corri-Dor Network on the Autoroute, these are a bit flaky so best to check in advance on the site if the charger is listed as working.

There are a few Ionity Chargers around France as well, Ionity is super reliable in my experience :) Integrate them into your road trip if you can.

ParisI would say is the worst European Country so far I've been to for charging infrastructure, I was chatting to a lad with an i3 and he was telling me I spends around 1 - 2 hours searching for a working Belib CCS to charge up when he needs it.

Charging in France is usually based on time as well, if you have a large EV that charges quite slow on AC it could get quite expensive.
