Plastering around inset Stove

    Hi,

We had an inset stove installed 2 weeks ago and we need to have it plastered around. We know that we need the heat resistant plasterboard and plaster however I am looking for recommendations for anyone in West Dublin who has had this done before and can recommend a person/company who did the work.

My understanding from doing some research is that normal plasterer's do not do this work, as it is in our sitting room i want to ensure that it is done correctly.

    Any recommendations are gratefully received.

    Thanks

Did you install the stove yourself OP? If not then it sounds strange to me that a stove installation company left you still needing a plasterer, it should be part of the installation package.

On recommendations- I used Old Bawn Stoves Tallaght and found them good

No we didnt install ourselves, it was done by a company however we sourced the stove seperately so found it difficult to get someone to install, we didnt have a package as such for installation.

I will try your recommendation thank you very much.

Ok still sounds strange that a company would put a stove in your chimney and then not plaster around it to finish the job properly. Im no expert in this domain but when I got my own stove installed the two lads did all the digging out of the chimney and put it in on steel lintels and then a few hours later a plasterer came along and made it good and flush with the chimney breast. Had to wait a few days till the plaster dried out and then I painted it and the job was done.

On this company you used- did they put flue liner in the chimney up to the cowl on the top? Its a pretty important part of a stove installation from a safety perspective so you need to be sure that this has been done before lighting any fires.

Anyway the company I mentioned sell and install stoves and they dont mind if you buy it somewhere else (as I did), they will still install it for you. They have a shop in Old Bawn in Tallaght if you want to deal with them in person, Jason is the owner and I found him very helpful.

There is also a comprehensive Stoves thread over on the Heating and Plumbing forum and the lads there are experienced and give good and helpful advice

Thank you for the advise. Yes it was installed with the flexi flu and was done correctly i have no doubt about that, We were just in a unique situation with having gotten the stove elsewhere and struggling to get it fitted. I will contact the company and query if they can help, thank you very much. I will also check out that thread you mentioned.
