    Hey all,

I have a 2015 iMac - my first mac and it's a fantastic machine. But . . . in the last year or so it's started doing this thing. A weird flickering of the screen where it flashes white on and off and then becomes unusable until the machine is restarted, at which point it disappears for sometimes a few hours, sometimes a few days.

Can't seem to figure out what's wrong with it, but it SEEMS to be triggered when using MS Outlook. Anyone ever come across this?

I did see this on an older iMac before, think it might have been the first 5k Mac and Outlook or some MS office was the culprit think it was the the Skype for business we used to have too.
Had to run them in low resolution mode to fix it but that was a year ago I’d say

Updating the OS to Catalina seems to have fixed this problem. Hasn't happened since.

Had similar issue in the past on an iMac that cant be upgraded as its hardware is too old. It was all related to firmware issues with the GFORCE NVIDIA video cards which caused them to overheat causing flickering, freezing, digital tiling and then the shutdown.

My solution which did make an impact was to install MacFan and keep the fan(s) running full time but not full speed, say 2800rpm +. An also go back to a more stable version of MAC OSX.

It occurred maybe once a week with the MacFan Software manually controlling internal ambient temperatures and at-least twice a day without.

Apparently Apple no longer use this vendor as it caused many headaches.
