Tractor problem - what do you think?

    bought a ford 7000 and engine was replaced with 7610 engine, runs sweet with no blow by but when I take out the dipstick while its running it pumps out oil but theres no issues with engine otherwise, starts first time and runs great with plenty of power so whats going on with the oil

    when you say pumping out, do you mean that oil is flowing out of the dipstick hole when the dipstick is removed, or is it drops of oil being blown out with oil vapour.

    Are you sure you have the correct dipstick and it's not over full.

    no its putting out oil rapidly not drops

    Bit of blow-by, more than likely worn cylinders/rings.
    Depends what you plan on using it for, tipping about, drawing bales, fertilizing etc, will last for years.

    hi this is bad though as alot of pressure forcing it out but engine seems great and starts first turn of key

    would rings replacing be a big job??

    I wouldn't bother, unless you plan on working it hard ( mixing slurry, 10 foot mo-co stuff like that.

    Is it burning much oil in a week?

    If you go to replace rings, you might as well get the engine rebuilt with a re-bore, valve job on head, etc.
    Looking at 2500 euro.
    Or wait till the block goes porous and do it then.

    ITS THE RED BLOCK - DO THEY GO POROUS?
    i could just do the rings?

    Reason is was thinking of selling it anyway and this put people off

    A 7000 will always sell, the criss-cross block means its not original but if the tractor is straight looking you'll sell it no bother.
    They make good money, far more than a 5000 with a turbo should.....
    To do the rings you'd have to pull the head and drop the sump ( have they a cast sump? If so you'll have to remove the engine).
    Not sure how good a job it is changing just the rings, but thats the next lads problem...

    has this engine been doing this for a long time or is it a recent thing, you hardly have a blocked breather on the top end do you?

    need a bit more advice here please
    I went to front of tractor where air filter is and loosened the holding screw and took off the cylinder shaped steel bowl on filter housing and there was near 2 inches of oil sitting in it,
    i left it off for the moment and started the tractor up and not pumping oil out everywhere now when you take dipstick out but you can see it gradually pushing the oil up slowly and overflowing but not near as bad so what yous think?

    You have an oilbath air filter so the oil needs to be there, remove the oil filler cap with the engine running, then pull the dip stick and see if the oil still comes out the dip stick tube.
    If it has stopped then the vent for the engine is blocked........................................................

    This was the issue with my 35, impossible to clean out the metal gauze in the filter so much easier to replace the whole thing i found!

    Open to cotrection but I always thought the turbo fords never used an oil bath air filter?

    Correct, its normally a dust trap bowl and a paper element for older turbo charged diesels

    OP, did you do any checks to see if you did have a blocked breather on the top end somewhere
