broken sink replacement?

    i hope this is the correct subforum for this

    after buying our house, we noticed that the tap on the kitchen sink was "sunken" down, as if the counter top is giving.

    upon inspecting it further my wife noticed that water is leaking somewhere in the cupboard under the sink.

    looks like a mess and like they kinda hacked together a temporary solution.

    now the sink and drying area are seperated circles as you can see on the firs timage - which might look cool but its beyond impractical. we were thinking of replacing the whole thing and getting a regular rectangular sink built in, also because we kinda of dont want to have the whole counter top replaced. wouldnt it be easier/cheaper to just make a rectangular cutout and put a new sink in there?

    how much would that cost, would anyone be able to give me ballpark price i can expect? would a plumber do all that?
