The screen keeps saying memory almost full and asks to optimise storage space and delete files. An sd card was put into it and formatted a couple of weeks ago and the delete files message still appears.

I did change setting so anything new would be saved to sd card.

Any suggestions welcome on what I am doing wrong. Is it possible to transfer all photos on phone memory to card at same time?

    Thanks

Have you Google photos installed? If you can add that and sync all the photos to the cloud, there is an option then to delete photos from the device but they will still be available through the app.

You might be able to free enough internal memory by clearing the cache.

How to get to this option might vary slightly from one phone brand to another but there should be some option along the lines of Settings > Storage > Internal Storage > Cached Data > Clear Cache.

Alternatively you could look at individual data heavy apps like your Browser, YouTube, Google News etc. and clear their cache one by one. Go into Settings > Apps > select app > Storage > Clear Cache or a similar sequence.

If you have a lot of videos, photos or music stored on your phone you should be able to move these to the SD card using a file manager app.

you need a u1 speed class minimum card installed and will only really be useful if used as adoptable storage. (may not be an option depending on phone to set as adoptable - can't take card out after this as long as using phone if set as adoptable)

otherwise it's still installing apps partially on internal storage, not fully on memory card

not sure what the storage on that phone is but 32gb is the min you should be looking at really these days.

it's less than that available of course because android itself takes up 5gb maybe.
