Would you get plastic surgery?

Especially if you're male? Most people seem to think its only women but looks matter for men, women may not get aroused by a hot male body but good looks definitely attract. I know one friend of mine who never had to set up a tinder date, just went to a club and badabing badaboom.

Though people don't want to admit it, looks are important even in getting a job.

    I had my ankles done.

    No regrets.

I would, but I wouldn't know where to start...

No. I'm saving the planet and reducing my dependence on plastic.

Is it still called plastic surgery? I thought it was now cosmetic or corrective surgery.

I was in a bad car crash in 1993 & got flung thru the windscreen.

Some bad scars , but are covered by my hair.

I'm 51 now & luckily not bald. If I ever did lose my hair I would get surgery on the scars though...

    They're pretty nasty.

I have had 12 “plastic” operations over the years after being in explosion in Bosnia in the late 90’s. 6 were just to fix me up by British Army surgeons so i could function. These were for my nose, upper jaw, lips and teeth but left a number of scars and quite roughly done. I could still pull a bird but only certain types who were into a bit of rough.

I paid for 6 others, 3 were to clean up face privately in America and they did a cracking job. 2 were dental to fix my jaw and implants and the last I got in Germany not related to my injuries but for lets say a private area and involved a small incision and injecting fat to increase length and girth.

My legs still look like i was ripped apart by a dog in places and i will get some work done. Kids in summer always point when i wear shorts and when i cycled in groups wearing shorts it was uncomfortable being looked at all the time.

I had a bad accident at work last year left with a significant scar on the top of my head and unfortunately I don't have the luxury of hair to cover it. Luckily my wife has helped me with any insecurity I would have developed . I'm 47, I thought vanity was something you left behind in your youth. I was wrong.

I melted the head of a G.I Joe onto my sisters Barbie when younger, it was a successful procedure.

Strong person if you came through all that, I guess your sense of humour stayed with you. Hope you are doing good now. On a separate note I would be curious of your experience in Bosnia as I was had a close friend serve there .

Since when are we not aroused by a hot male body? I definitely like a handsome body on a guy.

But no I don't think I'd have surgery. If someone said they'd pay for a face life to make me look ten years younger... I honestly don't know for sure but I think I'd be too scared of things going wrong to go ahead tbh.

I'm accepting of a few lines and wrinkles as I get older, my partner is happy with how I look and I with him so who would I be getting it done for? society? lol no.

I’d love to see what a nose job would do to me. Either it would go great, or it would go horribly wrong. Even then, if it were to go right, if probably find something else to get done...

Have you tried silicone sheets and cream? This works for my legs to camouflage the scars. Unfortunately my legs have keloid scares so they always look angry but silicone helps along with regular arnica.

Cheers for the info, aware of the good properties of arnica, I use bio oil aswell. As I said though my wife though has helped me overcome any self confidence issues I experienced. I actually saw an ulgy creature in the mirror when I was shaving, I was surprised at my reaction to my appearance at my age.

I still do not have mirrors in our spare room on suite where i shower, i also struggle with going to hotels as they have mirrors everywhere. My current wife didn’t see me naked for 4 years.

Lucky man, she obviously is not a shallow individual. Few and far between.

No, I wouldn't, unless like some posters in this thread, I was in a bad accident, but as I am now, no. I would be very self conscious if I started losing my hair though. I'd probably even go for some weird experimental procedure then if the results looked promising.

Probably on my nose. My nostrils are a different shape to each other due to an injury I had when I was a kid, where the hatch entrance of a boat slammed into my face.

I could see the appeal, I have a scar on my forehead from an attack, thankfully it is very thin and tbh most people don't notice it.
    To each their own.

    Had my ears done.

After suffering severe slagging as a kid ('ear-lingus' being the best of the lot) and having a somewhat normal experience with girls in my teens/20's (let's say I was punching well above my weight), it took the end of a 7 year adult relationship for me to realise I'd let myself go a bit.

So, at around 28 or so, finding myself single and after shedding 4 stone, I decided to have my 'sticky out' ears addressed. When it probably mattered least.

Went to see 3 surgeons. One wanted to pretty much paste them to the side of my head (non-runner), another guy was in and out if the country so not feeling that... and I settled on a clinic called Auralia. The surgeon owns the hospital and is resident here.

All in all, he did a top job, and having been through a bit of a 'barren' patch after the break-up.... I wound up with 2 friends vying for my attention when I hit the town 'post-op'. I only bring it up as it had less to do with my 'looks' and more to do with how confident I now was, post-op.

The danger is... once you've had one procedure done, you start to look at what you could do next. It's a slippery slope.

Thankfully I learned to be happy in my skin during my 30's.., found myself a wife and left my wonky nose alone!

It looks like your having a dig at me there.

    What is vanity anyway?

I'm now 51. 25 years ago I was nothing to look at.

I've never had anything lookswise to be vain about.

A few years back I was in a accident that smashed a couple of my front teeth.

Dentist said that I could get them pulled & get a denture for 500 euro. For 1500euro he would save what was left & give me crowns.

A Grand is not a lot in the scheme of things, so I had them crowned.

Why? To have teeth that work normally.

Nothing to do with vanity. Just being practical.

The term cosmetic surgery is prefered, since they no longer work with plastics.

Apologies, you took me up wrong but then again text does not allow for tone or context. I was speaking about myself but had used your comment as an illustration. Again apologies for any insult but honestly not intended.

Started losing my hair at 18. In my mid 20’s now and it suddenly started accelerating the past year. I would absolutely get surgery.

    No problem whatsoever.

I'd never have anything done to make myself look younger.

Why would I? No good looks to preserve anyway.

I'm a bit lucky on the hair front & do look young for my age.

    Pure genetics. Nothing else.

My Missus says that she went for the 'hard-wearing & durable' option rather than glamour.
