Hi all, I have a 2005 Prius that just failed the NCT because of a blowing exhaust. Can I get a replacement back section and replace it myself fairly easily? I have the spanners etc. Any good places to get a cheap back section? Thanks!

These guys are great if you based near Dublin. Decent prices and should be able to give you a rough quote over the phone for a replacement section. Ids just get them to fit it as well tbh. Would probably only cost 50 euro to fit.

It should be diy, but the bolts can be in a shocking state from the heat and rain etc. The 2 bolts at the hangers at the back box snapped on me when i did it on my old beemer a few years back.

If you want to try yourself, I found these guys fro my Yaris. https://www.gtexhausts.co.uk/

Andrewf20 is correct though, atmosphheric corrosion can be terrible on exhaust components.

As an aside, is anyone aware of a method of protecting against this corrosion?

I want to protect the 2001 yaris for at least 2 more years. :pac:
