eBay account hacked

So just under a month ago I purchased a few things on eBay. All small enough items 6 in total and the most expensive was 20 quid. The following weekend I noticed a transaction for £99 that I hadn’t made, and thought how stupid could I be to buy myself what turned out to be a drone. On further inspection I noticed that my address had been changed to one in England and that some wee cnut had bought himself it using my account.

So that Monday I contacted the bank. “Contact eBay” they said. So I contacted eBay. “Change your security details” they said, and also contact your bank. I again contacted the bank, who ever since have been asking me to contact PayPal.

What I want to know is, who is liable for this? My card provider? eBay? PayPal? The transaction only shows on my bank statement and eBay account. PayPal can’t see it, and I can’t see it on my PayPal transactions. Obviously my card was linked to PayPal and eBay, and it says PayPal on my bank statement. The only evidence I have found has been on my eBay account. I checked the viewing history and whoever it is that accessed my account has been viewing blinds and iPads! Definitely not me.

I still have this ****er’s address in Northampton, I feel like just boarding a flight and landing at his door to get my £100/drone back!

Speak to ebay and ask to speak to their fraud team. They will be able to see that the ip address was not yours and that this was used to change the address on your account. They should in theory be able to process a refund to your Paypal account.

Ebay is notorious for accounts being hacked. Usually the person is in a different country though!
