    Hi folks
Our lawn is becoming overrun with weeds. See attached picture for the type of weed that's most common.

Also always had moss but it seems to year there's more moss than grass.

What's the best way to kill the weeds? It's a big enough lawn so need to try keep cost of weedkiller down
Is something like this any good?

    Thanks

Dicophar will kill it, spray using the usual safety gear !! it's hormonal based killer. Pick a dry few days, dont cut the grass etc. You may need to reapply to really shift it.

Moss killer, if you have a lot, and you give it iron sulphate you'll have a black lawn, be warned, it will kill the moss, but it wont fix the underlying issue.
You could try to scarify it, but i'd kill those weeds first, then scarify, then reseed !

It's not a simple one quick action to fix both issues.

    Hope that helps.

Mobacter will kill moss without turning the grass black and you don't need to rake the moss out. Apply in the spring. You may need to apply twice for particularly heavy moss.

But, as previously stated, to get rid of moss properly, you need to tackle the underlying cause, which is mostly poor drainage.

    Cheers for this.

Your photo shows ribwort plantain - nature is trying to correct compressed soil. A great plant for wounds. I know this probably is not the answer you do not want to read but.... The way to get rid of weeds is to remove the entire 'weed' concept from our 1960s American dream snooker table garden (oil industry/petrol, chemicals, fertilisers) mindset. Mixed species are what should be growing, one species of grass in completely unnatural.
