We are a group of 6 female friends looking to book a week long holiday to celebrate our 40th Birthdays in May/June 2020. We are looking for relaxation by the beach/pool during the day but also want to experience a bit of night life at night! Most of us have small kids we will be leaving at home so want to steer clear of family hotels/destinations.

We preferably want to holiday in Europe with just one direct flight to get to the destination.

    Any suggestions/recommendations very welcome!

    Thanking you

With 8 people you could charter a yacht and go sailing around the Greek islands. Skipper and deckhand sail the boat while you sit back and enjoy the scenery, go snorkelling or lazing on beaches. If you want to get more involved and sail the boat then the skipper will show the group the basics. You choose your own itinerary with input from the skipper as to where is good for beaches and nightlife. That way you can mix it up between small towns with just a few restaurants and pubs to large ones with a party crowd, lively pubs and nightclubs, etc.

If being on the water is not your thing then perhaps a combination of a couple of days in Dubrovnik and then the rest spent on the Croatian island of Hvar. Good nightlife there for adults and its a beautiful island.

Another option would be to hire 2 x cars and rent a villa with a pool overlooking vineyards in Tuscany. Not much nightlife there though the restaurants are unreal and lively enough in the summer evenings. With a base in Tuscany you could do lots of day trips- 2 hours to Milan, about the same to Florence, Siena nearby as is Lake Como. Also theres a giant outlet selling Italian fashion labels at discount prices in the area too if you want to get some shopping in.

Lagos in Portugal. Plenty of great beaches, chilled restaurants and a great vibe around the town. Later in the night (after Midnight) a good selection of late night venues up till 6am if needed. Good value too for the Algarve. Enjoy!!!

Palma de Mallorca is another obvious one. I was there in mid to end of July and was amazed at the lack of kids about even at the height of summer.
Access is easy with direct flights from all over ireland and the island itsself is about the size of county clare, so not tiny but large enough to keep you busy.
Palma itsself is busy at night without being too bonkers and if you need a turbo on that, Magaluf or the German "ballerman" area are about 15km west or east of Palma respectively so a 25Euro taxi fare.
