    Hi Roadies,

    I'm hoping for some sound advice for a bottom bracket change/upgrade. My existing one has done around 5000 kms and is starting to creak a bit under heavy pressure. Nothing too bad, but enough to annoy me!

    My existing BB is a press-fit Shimano BB-RS500 that came with the bike (Giant Defy Advance 2018 model) and current the crank is as per below;

    I replaced the BB on my last bike ok, but that was an AL frame and this one is carbon so I don't want to make a b*lls of it. Thankfully I have the right tools for the job from last time.

    My problem is I just don't fully understand the various BB standards and measurements. If I'm not mistake something like this would be a good replacement and looks to be an exact match;

    But maybe I'd be better off investing in a slightly more up market BB that uses AL cups rather than the plastic polymer.....just from a robustness/performance point of view.

    My budget is between €60-80 on the BB, so any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Squa
