How could you wreak absolutely MAXIMUM HAVOC?

I mean through your job, mainly, but maybe you have other methods at your disposal.

I made a mistake in work today, which thankfully, someone spotted, where I input figure completely backwards, as in, instead of say, 7654321 it was 1234567. I'm not stupid, I had my reasons, and it was an accident. Luckily someone (whose job it isn't) spotted it and it was corrected. But it would probably have cost me my job if it hadn't been corrected, and cause a kerfuffle for the company.

That got me thinking about how much we rely on people just to do their jobs properly, and more importantly, with benign intentions. But if you were particularly daft or even particularly malicious, you could probably cause some major panic.

Could you pull of a major fraud? Could you bring traffic to a halt or have people queuing up to withdraw their life savings? Could you have people dropping their pens and go rooting for their iodine tablets?

I'm sure none of us want to do it. It's pretty cool, though, that we live in a society where, generally, people don't act the bollox, and trust is deserved.

Tell us how you could ruin our day, if ye wanted?

I work for a private bank, a couple of well places disconnected cables could bring the place to a halt within seconds. Loosing HUGE money as clients pull their funds. We're talking the GDP of a small country here.

Granted I'd never work in the industry again if I did.

I could steal thousands of euro worth of stock from my job at any moment, it would be so easy. Enough could be stolen to seriously jeopardise the small company I work for. I have told my boss dozens of times that me, another employee or any of the visitors we get in the building any day could easily pilfer loads such is the lax attitude towards security here. He says "I'll look into that" but does nothing, it's going to take a big robbery for him to do anything about it.

Anyone that works in a powerstation could probably zap the National Grid.

No lecky. No internet, no charging.
    No juice in the sockets:
No toaster for your bread or oven to bake it, no kettle for your coffee.
    Maximum havoc.

I have a gas oven; bottled gas. So cook, toast and boil water on that.
Because of a mess up I lived out here for five months with no electricity

So fire away! Does not worry me. Would miss the internet but there we are..

Poison would be too quickly spotted, and is morally questionable. A bad 'un would do something a bit more sneaky. Invent your own, completely false version of long division, for example. Teach them the alphabet, but skip the letter L. Subtle stuff like that, should go unnoticed until you're out the gap with a few Trócaire boxes under your elbow.

Hmm. Thread might be bringing out the worst in us.

I'm not a teacher, I work in food sales and production. Christmas, Easter or Halloween I could make a LOT of progress before it got traced back...

God. I could do an awful lot of damage. I would have to be completely unhinged such would be the extent. I could cause a person to take their own life or the lives of others. I could plant seeds of self destruction, manipulate them for financial means, even sexual. Turn them against all who care for them.
    It's quite terrifying actually.

I used to have a job doing desktop deployments for an investment firm with over 80000 devices globally. I could have sent a reboot command to all of these devices during trading hours if I felt the urge.

One time I ignored a bomb warning because I needed a bomb to happen because government policy and the empire wasn’t going the way I wanted and needed to sway public opinion.

Is it some kind of therapist? Hypnotherapist maybe?

I'm obviously not really expecting an answer but if Persepoly wants to manipulate me sexually then I am all for it.

I work as a bus driver and could easily cause minor havoc by doing my job properly - refuse to drive the vehicle if there's an engine warning light on the dashboard, wait until passengers have sat down before moving off, drive slowly enough to ensure that I never have to either brake sharply or break an amber light, refuse to mount pavements on narrow roads, refuse to serve bus stops that are blocked by parked cars, drive over speed ramps at walking pace, refuse to cross a continuous white line, etc.

Or I could go off-route and drive at full speed down a pedestrianised street.

I used to do the odd freelance shift for a newspaper/magazine publishing company - usually writing or researching boring articles for trade magazines that none of the staff writers wanted to do. A few friends from college were doing the same kind of stuff. We used to text each other, suggesting random words to shoe-horn into articles. I remember being particularly proud when I got the word 'mayonnaise' into a piece on sustainable construction.

I remember someone compressing a server.

Remember working in telecoms company and starting a certain application would cripple the billing system.
Also remember seeing their IVR system which really was a mess of wires and cards.
I had to step around it in server room and one wrong step would have probably resulted in no one having to put up with those awful press this, that and the other automated shyte.

I am not allowed discuss …

Visit some one horse town and make offers on a number of houses for sale. Then accidentally on purpose leave your file on the table of the local pub with made up files titled "Traveller relocation project" and "Direct Provision properties".
Be sure to have typed in " I have visited a number of properties suggested by Joe Bloggs T.D." on each file
