Looking at the Dublin-GY timetable, I see the 17:50 departure, first stop Oranmore at 18:03.

Then I see an arrival into Ceannt at 17:58, from Dublin.

Given that it's a single-track line, how is this possible?

I note that the 13 mins to Oranmore is longer than other services, which take 8-9 mins.

Is the 17:50 meant to leave the station, then wait on the bridge for the inbound train to pass?

Yes, they pass each other on the loop on the bridge.
