Just looking for a bit of advice on a potential future Soundbar purchase.

Budget prob less than 600e

Main areas needed would be;

-       Movie Sound – Atmos not essential, but some form of Dolby surround/DTS Virtual X required
-       Music received via Wifi – not a Bluetooth audio quality fan so would need Wi-Fi connectivity. My question would be – if using my own music/app (not Spotify or other streaming services, etc) does this mean Chromecast only is the option? Or maybe the Yamaha Music Cast app lets you access your phones own music?
-       Don’t care about streaming music to other rooms.
-       Don’t care about Alexa/Voice assist

Looking at the following to date;

Sony HTXF9000
YAMAHA YSP2700
Yamaha YAS207 (don’t think is Wi-Fi enabled)
LG SK9Y

Hi Davidhand365.

I've hear most of those mentioned above in action here at our store and the FX9000 or the SK9Y would be the ones in would recommend.
Both at different price points but the SK9Y is worth the extra in my opinion.

I would need to double check up on Virtual X on both as the Sony does mentions DTS X but not the LG or YSP2700.

Regarding streaming from your phone. What music app do you currently use, you mention above using your own music/app?

For music stored on your device, it can be accessed by the App for the Soundbars no issues. However it depends what it is you are trying to access on your phone to play via the bar. If its music off of a web page or via YouTube then this can be an issue for streaming without using blue tooth.
Most now design their apps to contain everything you require.

Chromecast is different yet again and is largely video based, Netflix,Youtube Etc.... so this also really depends what it is you are trying to do or achieve regarding streaming from your phone.

Let me know your thoughts.
It does have the usual music service, Spotify, Deezer etc..

Hi David,

Kenny s off today so I hope you don;t mind me replying on his behalf.

I actually have no movement on the YSP2700 I'm afraid as they are already heavily discounted.

Let me know what you think.

Kind regards

David
