2016 Tuscon - passenger airbag warning light

Not sure where to put this. Mrs Shifty got a 2016 1.7L TUSCON SE NAV and had a mechanic look over it and he gave it the all clear.

I've noticed that the "passenger airbag OFF" light is illuminated permanently.. Waiting to hear back from the mechanic to see if he spotted it, but thought I'd check here. The manual says there's a physical switch on some models where you use the car key to switch it on/off. The diagram looks like it's located on the door, but can't find it anywhere.

From looking online, it seems some models don't have a switch but an automated sensor to determine if the seat is occupied so it switches itself on/off automatically. If this is faulty, I'll have to get it looked at as "no airbag" is a pretty big issue. It seems like there was a recall on some models due to a faulty light / sensor at some stage as well, so could be any of 3 things:

    1-there's a switch and I'm an idiot
2-the sensor is now banjaxed or
    3-it has always been faulty

Anybody ever have any issues, able to offer advice?

Not familiar with car , but if there is indicator, there must be the switch.
I have yet to come across switch located "on the door" - usually its in door arch on the side of dash panel near airbag itself, some cars have it inside glove compartment, some underneath dash panel in passenger foot-well.

Thanks a million, lads, I'll double check there when I get home and otherwise bring it in to have a look at it.

@ smuggler: Some Tuscon models (those without the switch, presumably) have an Occupant Classification System (OCS) which detects if there is someone in the passenger seat and enables/disables the airbag automatically.

Dealer should be able to give you answer by VIN/Reg if its OCS, even over phone

You, sir, are an absolute gentleman. Found it exactly where you said it might be. The fact that my head was about two centimetres from it for about 10 minutes the other night while I was searching for it was a great source of laghter at home. :o
