Tesla UMC Schuko Adapter

Hi, I am already planning a road trip next year into mainland Europe (Spain - France - Italy - Austria - Switzerland - France) and was wondering if Tesla can supply a Schuko adapter additionally to the UK/IE 3 pin plug? Does anybody know? Haven't seen it in their web page here https://www.tesla.com/en_IE/support/charging-connectors

I think I won't need to use it as apart from Spain the rest of the countries have a surprising EV charger coverage with Ionity + Tesla. But I would like having a safety net just in case for such a long trip (+6000km)

I will hopefully have my model 3 I reserved a couple of years ago...

If you need to use a granny charger you would be in serious trouble. Just a get good quality 13 amp adaptor rather than spend any serious money.

Yeah, the idea is if we are in trouble to be able to charge during the night in the AirBnb or when staying with my parents, I don't foresee problems, the coverage is really good except in Spain

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

No need to go to Tesla, they would probably charge you €150 for a UK 3-pin to Shuko adapter :p

Do make sure though that the one you buy has earth connection, not all Shuko adapters do. When trying to charge my mate's Tesla with his granny cable and a Shuko extension cable that had no earthing, the car refused to charge. And when you are about to use your granny cable (as a last resort) on your holiday, that is the last thing you want to happen!

Considering the load & length of time plunged in here, it might be worth your while buying the components separately online, and using a decent weight cable to connect them together.

Another thought - I haven’t checked: but in Ireland the granny charger for BMWs for example isn’t running at socket current of 13A, and instead is 10A. Maybe the Tesla is similar.
Maybe the shuko charger from Tesla might get closer to the sockets 16A rating, which could save you some charging time.

The question was more like if you can fit the UMC with different plugs or not as in the picture in the link looks like the plug side is interchangeable. Thanks for the advice though, will look for an adapter with earth connection.

I think from some videos that it might be the same, limited to 10 amps, people were using the juice booster to get better speeds, looks like a neat piece of kit, with several interchangeable plugs but quite expensive at 1500 Euro with all the plugs. Not worth for me as looks like Tyrol is well served and the route has plenty of Superchargers

Had a Model S 75D here last week. Using the Tesla supplied granny cable charged at 10 amps drawing approx 2.5 kw and charged at a max of 7 km per hour. They are fussy as it wouldn’t charge through a plug mounted circuit breaker.

Ok, I found an image to showcase what I meant, the UMC plug part is interchangeable, so I would think that a proper schuko plug part should be available at a decent price

Will ask Tesla when I have the car (if I can get one)
