    hello Folks,

no joy elsewhere so I thought I would try here.

Re roofing a little old cottage and have also put a tiny porch on the front. A frame roof on porch at 45 degrees backing into main roof at 40 degrees. Roof is built.

My question is about the valley. Do I construct the valley boards first, then felt roof? Or felt roof first, then nail on valley boards? I understand lead cannot rest on felt in valley?

    Any help really appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    If you look here:
    https://www.priceyourjob.co.uk/replace-repair-roof-valley-cost/
or at other images on the web you will see how it is done.

The primary purpose of the felt is to cater for any water that might get in under the slates/roof tiles so if you bear that in mind it hepls with the design/flashing of valley.

For normal roofs the valley will go in before the felt and it it sized to match the thickness of the slating lathes.
There are lots of proprietary systems out there now so I would suggest moving away from lead
