Anyone know the reason for revenue activating VAT RTD for 2012?

Our outstanding VAT return list on ROS is showing RTD VAT returns going back to 2012 that weren't there previously, does anyone know the reason or was there a bulletin from revenue on this?

They probably were there before as outstanding but it’s only in the last year or so that revenue are now starting to apply the law that rtd have to be submitted in order to get refunds or tax Clarence certs. It’s a complete pain in the arse. But the law always was that they needed to be submitted every year but people always deferred them.

We’ve had several cases years back where paper filed RTDs have shown as outstanding. These included ones we definitely completed ourselves and submitted. Once RTD became mandatory to file on ROS that stopped. While it may be an urban myth I was once told there were boxes of unprocessed paper RTDs in Sarsfield House. If it can be filed on ROS now I’d get it done.
