Why I left Ireland and will never come back.

So was on 45K in Ireland and went to get a mortgage with a bank. It was a single mortgage application. The most they would give me was 110K. I had a 30K deposit which would bring me up to around 135K with the other expenses like solicitors, stamp duty etc. Average house in my area is between 170K and 220K. I was hoping the 3.5 rule would apply to get it up to 157.5K

I paid 900 for a rented house for the last three years and would have no problem paying the mortgage and in a bullet proof role with a major multi national.

Now what really pisses me off is the council houses my area. Never work a day in your life and get a free house. Where is my free house for actually working or approving my mortgage application. Pop out a baby, never work a day in your life and get a free house.

Why did you only get approved for 110k? That's a lower salary to mortgage ration than I've seen anywhere? Did you try another bank?

It won't help and you probably already know, but the loose lending rules only ran for about 10 years. A lot of people borrowed too much, and the middle class taxpayers had to bail them out afterwards.

But I do think that someone with a good record paying rent like yourself, should have that taken into account, and the rules should be varied in such cases.

45k.... Just enough for the government to tax the hole off you ... Probably better off if you took a pay cut of about 8k or learn about some other tax write offs.

Speak to a financial advisor ..... Or just enjoy life in your new country.

Comments like this really piss me off. Yeah, I'm sure he won't and he'll actually live a happy life where he can achieve something. I'm in a similar situation.

I literally travel to work for 1h every single day. I have to cycle for 1 ****ing hour in this ****ty weather and cycle back because public transport literally takes close to 2 hours one way. What do I see when I arrive in my work in the dublin city centre? I see scumbags who haven't worked a day in their life and their anti social children who steal and destroy everything in sight. My bicycle was stolen (surprise surprise). Literally the other night, there was around 10 of them throwing rubbish on the road and burning Dublin city bins. This area is near the IFSC.
They all get a ****ing house in the city centre for absolutely no reason... why??? They have never worked and never will.
    Bend over and take it.

What happens in France? People actually go out and protest and then the government is forced to do something.

Very recently I got approved for an Australian skilled worker 189 Visa and I'm out of here asap. Enjoy living in this stupidity.

It can be tough working your arse off to provide and then seeing others who offer feck all to society being handed freebies but unless you go outside Europe it's pretty much the same everywhere else

Not a reason I would leave Ireland for, but you do you buddy

I assume you have evidence for this? In every single European country? Even European Union?

There are no houses available in the city centre for social housing due to ahem it being the middle of the city! It's all apartments aka flats, you could have applied for one?

You should make your way across the Med on a dinghy. You'll get a house quicker that way.

Have you got accommodation in Australia. Things are pretty grim in the housing market at the moment.

Mod noteThis is basically a dole bashing thread, council house, etc.

If you are having difficulty with council housing maybe look over in state benefits.
