I work in the HSE but I am thinking about doing some extra work at weekends with a company.
As it will be irregular work I think they want me to be registered and do my own taxes rather than be on their books as an employee
Do I need to register as a sole trader?
Will all of this income be taxed at 40 per cent?
    Thanks

    what do you mean registered?
Have you in effect a zero hours contract?
you don't need to register.. the level of extra pay will determine what tax return you will use: over 5k pa it will be form 11, on ROS

Re the tax, my guess it will be that plus PRSI and USC
