What has plumber done to my radiators?

Hi there guys we have fairly new radiators but nothing fancy on them such as smart knobs.

The water was only Luke warm in the taps the other day had boiler on for a good hour so I rang the plumber.
The radiators at the time we're all great boiling hot.

He messed with a red dial (gate valve I believe) in the airing cupboard and then when I put the boiler back on after some time the water was now perfect nice and hot.

However I am today just noticed that the 2 out of 3 radiators upstairs are only Luke warm on top and stone cold on the bottom.
I have tried to bleed the 2 radiators but there is no trapped air.

All other radiators are perfect but they do loose their heat alot quicker then they did before (like 5 mins after you turn off the boiler)

Just wondering what did he do the the valve that caused all this? I mean surely I should expect hot water and all radiators working.

    Anybody ever experienced this before?
Tried contacting him but no response.

I will try to attach some pictures.
    Thanks for any help

What you need are a few zone valves

Then when you want hot water, it just heats the cylinder

    Something like this :

Go back to the valve, and completely close it (righty-tight) the open it about 1-1.5 turns, and see what happens to your rads.

Its possible that its fully open, and will rob your rads of heat and shut boiler off early

Hi I tried that but unfortunately the 2 out of 3 radiators upstairs still aren't responding

Turn the handle another quarter turn clockwise.
Sounds like the system needs balancing, or you may have air trapped somewhere.

Did the "no hot water" issue just suddenly happen, or was someone doing something with the heating system.

We had just moved in and got the boiler moved the guys said they drained the system and filled again.
    It was ever since then

Gas boiler or hot water cylinder?
Are they responsible for all that horrendous grey pipework in the hot press?

Oil burner. No pipework was there beforehand.
    Ye I know it's like a maze

Quite possibly trapped air on the feeds to the affected radiators.

Turn off all the rads except two that aren't heating. When they heat up turn the rest back on
