Was thinking of just getting an Nvidia shield and was wondering about the above. Are we any closer to a proper live date and costings. Last proper console was a Xbox 360.

Really just play emulated old games like the Mega drive and SNES.

Could be pursuaded to splash out on PC

If you only play old emulated games you could just get a cheap second hand computer. None of the streaming services would be any good for that

Hell, a Raspberry Pi with Picade would do you and only cost €80 including a pair of controllers.

Well I’d like the ability to play some newer games as well every so often.

What is your budget? 1500 dollars but looking as well if the streaming is an option and anyone’s opinion on the game steaming services currently available.

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] Media centre hooked up to 55 inch Samsung 4K HDR television, been able to play latest games, some virtualization but realistically only running 1 VM at once. Currently fine on laptop assigning 4GB of ram.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No] No, will just download off Microsoft site

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility) No

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.] No, will be using 4K Tv

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No] 4K HDR tv

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] Thinking the official Xbox one controller unless someone can recommend a better controller

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No] Yes, no water cooling though

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser] USA bank card

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days] Looking for opinions

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.]
OH I get by with a little help from YouTube. Just moved to US from Ireland

Better off buying your own hardware. Streaming services for games are a joke atm.

Much lower quality picture from compression, massive internet data usage, large input latency and no real control over your content + you still have to buy the games.

It measures up against consoles fairly reasonably but not against PC. The whole reason to buy a console is exclusives anyway and Sony have been winning that war for a long time.

Here's a good build for $1200. I'd check compatibility with the cooler and board though. Heard of some clearance issues with that board. $300 left over to get some good peripherals.

    Small (sub-20L) beast.
At 4K, your GPU is more important than CPU.
    RTX 2070 Super > 2070 non-Super

That's a fair point. Smaller form factor for use with tv makes sense as well.

I'd up the PSU to at least 550w though for some more overhead in case you want to upgrade to higher power consumption stuff over time.

Overclocking that stuff will push it closer to 400w as well. Would be fine but I'd prefer having more than 50w overhead.

    Decent point.
PSU has to be sub-160mm in that case.

Cooler Master MWE Gold & Corsair TXM Gold series are sub-150mm.
