Backdating registeration

Quick q on self employment registering.
Need to register for last year, I presume there's no issues just choosing a backdate when registering? Does the exact date matter or is anytime in the tax year suitable?

Say I pick the first of November of last year, is it possible to lump in any extra income made previous to that?

This site is UK based but implies that'd be no issue?

Probably overthinking this but trying to keep everything in order!
Don't have any notable pre-trading expenses to claim...

Also, are the guidelines for keeping records super strict for pre-trading income? Say I had a cash payment/s (or an online payment processor) without invoices/etc but I want to report it and pay taxes on it, will the lack of documentation bite me in the ass down the line? :pac:

(If it makes a difference, it'd be a relatively small sum, think less than 10k, no other income)

    Thanks!

Without paperwork, how will you prove your disclosure is all of it?
Are you registered for tax here?
