Where in Dublin to Fix Dell Laptop?

It's having an issue recognizing the charger as a Dell one and if Dell Laptops can't do that then they won't charge. Moving it around a bit made it work correctly for a few months and now it's stopped working altogether, seems the battery and charger both work, but not sure of what system they use to determine it is a Dell, the pins not contacting correctly or something?

had the same issue - charger connected but wouldn't charge the battery.

bought a new charger with the same specs (exact mm length and width of connector, output voltage and amps, non dell-one from aliexpress) and the battery charges fine now so it was the dell-supplied charger in my case that was the issue.

Interesting, did you get the same message in the bios saying that it couldnt detect that it was a dell charger? Do you have a link for that by any chance?

well may not be the exact same case.

I had the issue that the charger would power the laptop but not charge the battery.

the message in windows was

"plugged in, not charging"

I wasn't getting a bios error.

I used to get it to work by jiggling it around / re-inserting it also - the fact that this worked for you sometimes indicates to me that it's also likely that it's the charger that is at fault as it's that part that you were altering to get it to work - logical conclusion

worth getting another charger of the same spec, either dell or one with the same pin size and voltage + amps output. (get the pin dimensions by looking at specs on ebay listing or something by searching for a charger for your exact laptop)

you can buy from abroad and re-use the uk plug part cable that plugs into charger from the mains.

when buying the charger

amazon or ebay in nearby country for quick postage

aliexpress or ebay from china for cheap!

if you were asking for a link to the charger it's not really relevant as dell chargers vary - you need to get the specs for your exact laptop

pin mm length and diameter (width) and voltage/amps requirements output (this part will be on your existing charger)
