with 'normal' seats you can almost always bring a backpack on and put it under the seat in front, but obviously you can't do this in the front row. Those lockers tend to fill up really quickly, between crew stuff which may be in them to selfish arseholes sticking their bags in the first locker they see and then heading up the back of the plane.

If you're not bothered about the bag going into the hold, then it doesn't really matter. If you try to be at the front of the non priority queue, you might have some chance of getting your bag into the overhead locker above your seat. Worst case scenario, there's no space and the flight attendant will tag it for the hold. Doesn't sound like that would be much of a problem anyway.

Add priority to your booking and that's your problem solved.

    Cheers.

I accidentally deleted my post above.

Anyway, I just paid for 48euro for 2 bags return (there's 2 of us flying).... obviously more expensive booking now than at time of booking but just paid it and it's done.

I feel like a clown... i'm normally very careful when booking flights, but just slipped up this time (first time ever, so no big deal)

    Just done that, cheers.

Makes the flights not as cheap as before but who cares, still only costing approx. 160 euro each (return) for almost 3 hours in the air, including front row seat, priority and fast track :pac:

This used to be true, but is no longer the case. If it's tagged for hold, there's a 25quid charge now.

If you're non-priority, you're allowed one personal bag (handbag, laptop bag, school bag)

A cabin suitcase is not included, and will be charged at the gate.

Op I'd suggest you purchase the 6quid upgrade to priority now. You won't be allowed take the bigger bag on.(unless you pay the 25euro hold fee)

As you see on link above, non priority is a handbag/similar bag ONLY. first paragraph down is option to upgrade your booking to priority.

Edit: I see you got sorted as I posted. Enjoy your trip 😊

I must have misunderstood the size of OP's bag. He said it was a small backpack which could be compressed. That's what I always bring and never had a problem. I thought the charge was only for an additional or very oversized bag?

FYI, it was 12eur per person, per flight to upgrade to Priority (never used, i'm always last on the plane) & 2 cabin bags.

Given the dozens of flights i've booked over the years, i'm getting away lightly... first (and hopefully last) mess-up ever!

It's hilarious... the base flights (without extras) were actually cheaper than all the upgrades (fast track, front row seat, priority & 2 cabin bag). It's mugs like me that make the flights cheap for the rest of ye :D:D

Can I ask a quick question re priority boarding.
If you have it does it show under both flights on your itinerary or just at the end?

I have been charged €12 but not sure if this is for one or both flights.

    Thanks

It should appear for each leg of your trip on the itinerary if you bought it for 2 legs.

Is there any way to add it to the other leg or do I have to wait until I do online check in?
I guess it could be too late by then as cabin storage space could be used up.
I might just have to check in a bag.

Maybe in flight essentials on the app?

Waiting eagerly for the 'no over head bins, your bag fits under the seat in front of you or you check it in' days.
Watch the planes load and empty fast.

No there wouldn’t, the overhead bins only take an average of 90 bags with them dimensions for an aircraft with 189 seats

I assume they only take 90 bookings for a cabin "suit case", every one else in theory should be putting luggage under the seat in front,(which Incidentally is also your leg room) but if your personal bag is slightly too big, it won't fit under the seat, then there's your coat, duty free bag Ect...
Probably easier to pay the 12 quid each way for the carry on case, but if the overhead is full I doubt the cabin staff would do much...

It's allowed but they charge you now.

If you refuse to pay what will they do?
