Adblue error A6 Ultra

I've got an Adblue error, car wont start in 650 miles coming up on my dash. A6 C7 Ultra 20142.

Was filled about a month ago and topped it up when the error came up this morning but still there.

Various horror stories about requiring a new Adblue pump on good old Google but hoping somebody has a cheaper solution or experience...pump plus replacement could cost well over a grand.

Booked in with Audi for The Monday but I drive around 100 miles a day so not much time to play with unless they can reset it.

Just came across this by a search. I've just got this error and the tank is full so it looks like something else.....how much was your fix?

Did you just fill up the adblue tank? They say if tank is over full car cannot see that it has been filled. Could that be the problem? What year and what car and engine size? How much did you add?

Nah, filled it up about a month ago. Warning came on this morning and topped it up but only took about 3 litres.

    Car is an A6 Ultra.

How much adblue is in the tank now? Did you try leaving it parked on the flat and just leaving the ignition turned on for about a minute.

Tank is full. How do you mean ignition on for about a minute? I've driven it for 40 miles this morning and I'm now down to 550 miles......

Do you mean just switch it on without starting?

Yes, just ignition on without starting. It looks like the ECU can't read what's in the tank, sitting on the flat for a minute or so might work, that's the instructions in the handbook for my superb. No harm in giving it a try.

Thanks. I'll try that in a while.

No luck. Didn't work for mine. I'll bring it out and stick it into manual mode and drive at high revs for a few miles. Pretty much last throw of the dice from a home fix POV....

No point in wasting your diesel, the ECU thinks the adblue tank is nearly empty. Driving the guts out of it will only reduce your available time even further.

    Didn't work anyway :-(

    Audi on Monday.....

    Usually give it 100km register.

Problem is that it wasn't low. Only needed 3 litres to top it off. Different warning than normal Adblue warning too. Usually get the 1500 miles remaining.

Hoping the dealer can at least reset it tomorrow or I'm screwed as I do 100 miles per day and only have few days remaining at that rate.

Someone else with same problem if you knew someone with VCDS they might be able to reset it.

Yep that's why most Hauliers have it mapped out!

Didn’t know it’s in trucks also. My Skoda uses about 1L adblue per 1000km. How much does a truck use ?

In most truck's since 2007, 30 litres would last about 7 day's or over 1400 litres of diesel. The latest model Scania uses much more though! All the new Tractors have it too..

Phew...software update fixed it and Audi Wexford didn't charge me for it as I get my car serviced there.

I think as these cars get older people will design ways to code this out (unless it already exists).
Such nonsense, the car can't be driven unless it gets its fill of urea. That's literally taking the p1ss

Glad to hear it got sorted, I'm the guy from the other thread linked above. Out of interest, did you have it serviced recently or did you top it up yourself?

It's the same on every car/van with Ad blue.

Serviced a few months ago but filled with Adblue by me about a month ago.

If it was in the states there would probably be a requirement for a decade long warranty on emissions equipment.

Funnily enough the EU has never pushed for that and VAG doesn't sell 2.0 tdis in the states anymore.

Great result, I'm hearing great stories about Audi Wexford, good customer service, good trade in deals etc. Might go there next time I'm changing.

Yes, it's a great result alright. I was fearing the worst after the horror stories on the internet and Audi forums.

In fairness to Wexford Audi they collected my car from my work place and dropped it back when it was fixed. I obviously didn't have an appointment booked as it just came up on Sat morning so they were very responsive. I get my car serviced there but I didn't buy it there so I'm well impressed that they charged me nothing. In fact, they said that even if it was a pump issue they would see that I worked out ok as I get the car serviced there.

I am very impressed with them. I'll definitely be visiting them when I'm looking to change again.
