    Hi all

    Just looking for advice.

I have too many photos and videos on my phone. What can I do with them? I do have a Google account, but I would prefer to have them on something physical, then print and put them on DVDs. (If this can still be done in these. Modern times)

Use your Google account to swap them over onto a laptop/PC with a DVD player and that's job done.

You can sync the photos through Google drive to a local folder on your PC. Just install the Google drive app to get it going.

Or if you run your own server, you could sync through the Plex app to your Plex server.

Buy a portable hard disk (or two...just in case) and back them up onto that. Your Google drive/Google photos is also a fine back-up for any photos and videos you have. One thing to watch out for is the settings in Google photos. By default, they don't back your photos up at full resolution so you'll need to change that (if that sort of thing is important to you)

The one thing I would not do is back up anything of value to DVDs. I've had too many home-burned CDs and DVDs fail on me over the years to trust them.

You do not need to do this in these modern times. Google photos will back them up to the cloud. In fact it's most likely already done so ;)

What is cloud? Is having a Google account not enough?

Yes. Google has servers which it saves and backs up all your stuff, emails, photos, music etc. If you have the Google photos app it is most likely saving all your photos on there. Go to https://photos.google.com/ and see do you see your photos.

I see some of my photos not all, like for example ones that have been sent to me via what's app.....

You can upload your Whatsapp photos to Google Photos as well. It can be done automatically or manually.

It's possible your Whatsapp chats and photos/videos are already on your google drive https://drive.google.com/drive/

You will need to tell Google photos to backup the WhatsApp photos folder (and any other that you need). Open Google photos, click the menu on the top left, select device folders, it will list all your device folders which contain images, open any folder you want backed up and select backup and sync

I found the select button for the back up and sync, but it won't let me back up all the folders. Could it be that IV no room left on the Google photo's?

If you are full you have 2 options. You can get unlimited space for free if you are willing to take a small reduction in quality or you can pay for more space. You will find these options in Google photos > settings > backup and sync

If you're on your phone, go to the menu on the top left hand corner of your screen (the 3 lines) and scroll down to Account Storage. It'll tell you how much space you've used
